The Pottery Society

Squiggle Co was commissioned to design a new badge-style logo for The Pottery Society, a welcoming community of potters and ceramists united by a shared love of handmade craft.

The brief called for a sleek, circular emblem that felt timeless and practical—something that could be embroidered onto apparel and stamped directly onto ceramic pieces without losing clarity or character. With this in mind, we focused on strong, simple forms and a clean silhouette that would reproduce beautifully across both fabric and clay.

At the centre of the badge sits a handcrafted clay vase, filled with hand-picked flowers and gently held by two hands. This icon was designed to symbolise care, creativity, and the human connection behind every piece—celebrating both the maker and the material.

The overall design is intentionally minimal, allowing the mark to feel both modern and rooted in tradition.

A natural, earth-inspired colour palette of browns and beiges was chosen to reflect the raw materials of the craft—clay, stone, and soil—giving the logo an organic, grounded feel that aligns closely with the values of the community.

The final result is a versatile, elegant emblem that feels authentic to the world of ceramics while remaining highly functional across a wide range of applications.
